Queensland covers the north-east of the country and is known for its warm climate, outdoor lifestyle and long coastline. Most new housing activity centres on South East Queensland, which takes in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast, Ipswich and Logan.

Brisbane is a river city. Inner suburbs such as South Brisbane, West End, Newstead and Spring Hill offer apartment living close to the CBD, the riverside, the cultural precinct and plenty of cafes and restaurants. CityCats and ferries on the Brisbane River sit alongside buses and the Citytrain network, and the Cross River Rail project is set to add new underground stations through the inner city.

Further out, the growth areas around Ipswich and Logan, including Ripley and Flagstone, are home to large masterplanned communities with house and land packages, townhouses, parks and new schools. These suit buyers who want more space and a newer home in a planned neighbourhood.

With Brisbane hosting the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, a lot of infrastructure work is underway across the region. For younger buyers and first home buyers, Queensland offers both city apartments and suburban family homes. Check the Queensland Revenue Office for current first home buyer support before you buy.
